Thanks to this extension, Pairi Daiza will double its green electricity production, increasing from 20,000 MWh to 39,800 MWh, thus becoming the largest solar car park in the world.
Starting in the third quarter of 2023, an additional 31,036 new photovoltaic panels will be put into operation. This photovoltaic extension will cover the new parking area with a surface of 96,000 m² and achieve a total capacity of 20,500 kWp. This new installation will produce 19,800 MWh of green energy per year. Part of this energy will be used to meet the energy needs of Pairi Daiza’s new worlds, while the surplus will be fed back into the grid. Pairi Daiza will therefore contribute even more significantly to the local production of green energy in Wallonia.
The expansion of the world’s largest solar car park began this summer and will be completed in July 2023.
