PerPetum Energy is constructing a customized solar carport with white round columns & full black solar panels where esthetics and technical engineering go hand in hand.

  • Power: 1114 kWp
  • 24 charging points are installed

We execute our construction site in 2 phases so that disruptions on our parking lot are kept to a minimum.

Next to the parking, we are building a ground-mounted solar installation in an adjacent meadow of AZ ZENO. A sufficient height has been taken into account for the green keeping by sheep.

The photovoltaic carport at Pairi Daiza received the Public’s Choice Award for Sustainable Infrastructure 2023 at the Green Solutions Awards ceremony, held on September 19 at the Tour&Taxis site in Brussels.

The Green Solutions Awards are prizes awarded by Construction21, the network for information and networking among players in sustainable construction.

This is both an encouragement and a source of pride for the teams at Prefabois, Perpetum Energy, and Green4Power, who have been working for years with Pairi Daiza’s Energy & Sustainable Development department on this solar installation, the extension of which will soon be commissioned.

As the winner of this Green Solutions Award received on September 19, the Pairi Daiza solar carport will automatically participate in the International Grand Prix for Sustainable Infrastructure, held during the COP28 climate conference in Dubai from November 30 to December 12, 2023.

Perpetum Energy, Prefabois, Green4Power, and Pairi Daiza also hope to impress the international community with what is currently the largest solar carport in the world.

Thanks to this extension, Pairi Daiza will double its green electricity production, increasing from 20,000 MWh to 39,800 MWh, thus becoming the largest solar car park in the world.

Starting in the third quarter of 2023, an additional 31,036 new photovoltaic panels will be put into operation. This photovoltaic extension will cover the new parking area with a surface of 96,000 m² and achieve a total capacity of 20,500 kWp. This new installation will produce 19,800 MWh of green energy per year. Part of this energy will be used to meet the energy needs of Pairi Daiza’s new worlds, while the surplus will be fed back into the grid. Pairi Daiza will therefore contribute even more significantly to the local production of green energy in Wallonia.

The expansion of the world’s largest solar car park began this summer and will be completed in July 2023.
